    Minor Variety

An experiment in the American dream

I started Minor Variety in 2007 as a reaction to the horribly overdone trends in T-shirts from the mid-late 00's - with a lack of options and not wanting to look like a billboard, I decided to make my own. I sewed a pocket on my favorite plain white T to wear for an Ampal fashion show and after a swarm of compliments I decided to make a few more with prints collected along my travels. MV had a brief run, gaining a dedicated following internationally amongst those who preferred subtle details over statement pieces. When my other design work took off I had to put MV on hold.

A few years later and there are a lot of people sewing pockets on Ts. Downtown LA is one of the last centers of a once thriving American clothing industry. With the amazing resources in my backyard and years of ideas waiting to take shape I decided to relaunch MV.

Minor Variety is my passion project, a capsule of clothes I want to wear, crafted in small runs with a focus on being exceptional over profit margins or trying to capture a market. All the materials, from the handpicked textiles and hand stamped hangtags to the $12 of buttons on our jackets are local and selected because they are the best we can bring you.

Minor Variety is a nod to American glory, an attempt at a truly local business born from the city, but I know we're swimming upstream against a barrage of disposable fashion. There are no logos on the outside, only a signature zig zag stitch detail carried over from our first T's and the feel of your favorite vintage piece. It has been my pleasure creating Minor Variety and I hope you will enjoy our clothing for years to come.
